Family, Food and Life
In all honesty I am a very picky person, I eat a lot but only a lot of what I like. For example, I'm not a big fan of spaghetti, but I love pasta and most pasta dishes. I can eat plain noodles everyday and every second of everyday. Pasta and rice are huge staples in my diet. When we order Chinese food and they give me more rice than chicken, I'll eat the rice plain.
My appetite is plain and simple. I guess when people say, "You are what you eat" , they're right. My food selection is not adventurous, it's almost timid even, like my personality. I shy away from things that are different, though I am currently working on that, and that is how my appetite is also; I only eat what I know, what I like and I'm afraid to venture off of my path. Sometimes I use food as a type of entertainment instead of eating because I need to. I feel like, today, that is a common thing in American society. People eat just because they can or want to. Whenever I'm bored I catch myself walking to the fridge or pantry to find a quick snack just because I have nothing better to do. Though it is a bad habit, it is one of my habits and I'm pretty sure that many people do the same thing. Food is not only a form of "entertainment" in my eyes but a way to make memories with family members and friends. As you can see, my family and friends mean a lot to me. My favorite holiday is Christmas because of the variety of foods and because it's the food and the holiday that brings my family together to make memories and the jokes that we'll laugh about during the following holidays. Food brings me closer to my family and friends. Last year my mom and aunt decided that our family should have a "family dinner" at least once a month to spend more time together . Each month we had a different theme for our family dinners. One month we'd have pasta dishes, the next tacos, churros and burritos and another month we'd enjoy a pizza. We'd have a Wii bowling tournament after dinner and enjoy the company of each other. I loved these family dinners because they brought us closer together. My family and friends mean a lot to me and I enjoy the fact that something as simple as a pasta dish can bring us together. |
